Summer Newsletter

Hi there and hope your summer is a fun one,
We usually meet the 3rd Tuesday of every month, from September to May, at the Plymouth Public Library from 7-8:30 pm.  However, sometimes we cannot meet those dates.

The third Tuesday in September is Yom Kippur, so we can’t meet then.  Our first meeting, a September meeting, will be on a Wednesday night, because that’s when the meeting room at the Plymouth Public Library is available.
Our meeting in November will be on a Saturday because the speaker, Ellen Perkins, gives her technology workshops only on weekends.  A Saturday meeting also gives those who don’t drive at night a chance to attend a day-time meeting.

We planned the following tentative schedule for the 2018-19 year:
Date Topic Speaker
Wednesday, September 26, 2018 All About Cochlear Implants Ann-Marie Hennessey, Audiologist
Saturday, November 10, 2018 Learn About the Latest Technology Ellen Perchins, Technology Specialist
Tuesday, January 15, 2019 Psychology of Hearing Loss Michael Harvey, Ph.D. Psychologist
Tuesday, March 19, 2019 Emergency Prepardness To Be Determined
Tuesday, May 21, 2019 Reach Out:  Helping Yourself and Others Peggy Ellertsen and Barbara Aberini
Here’s some information for those interested:
Next year’s convention will be held in Rochester, New York from June 20-23, 2019.

At our July 10th Planning Meeting, it was approved for a representative of our chapter to have his/her registration fees covered for the annual convention.

New members may also have their registration covered for the HLAA Convention.

Veterans who attend an HLAA convention for the first time do not pay registration fees.  Veterans also become a member of HLAA free the first year.

One way we can raise money for our chapter is to participate in our annual Walk4Hearing, to be held in Boston on Sunday, October 28.
